1997 – Wauquiez Centurion 41s designed by legendary architect Ed Dubois

Seaworthy, fast and elegant sailing yacht designed by legendary architect Ed Dubois.

Classic and elegant lines with a beautifully stretched transom. The Centurion 41s is an extremely stiff and solid yacht with composite bulkheads, laminated hull-deck connection, AIREX foam sandwich and two layers of Aramid roving as grounding protection in forward hull section. Beautiful interior with lots of solid wood in frames and strips. 3 cabin layout with 2 heads.

Scorcher III has had just one owner from new and, regrettably, is now offered for sale due to ill health. While she does require some attention, with a little care and investment she will once again make a wonderful cruising yacht.

Owners Comments

We watched Scorcher III being built over many months in Henri’s yard near Lille… and excitedly sailed her back in 1997, stopping off in Kent to pay the VAT bill before continuing on to the Beaulieu River, where she has been moored ever since. She proved to be a comfortable, fast and confidence-inspiring cruiser, regularly taking us across to the Channel Islands and down to the West Country. With 4 children, Scorcher proved an ideal family boat and the perfect weekend getaway for the 6 of us.
Mike was never into racing, and our one and only attempt at the Round the Island Race saw us, from the Needles onwards, towing someone who’d broken their rudder!
Mike’s been a stickler in caring for her…annually polishing the prop until it looked like new, etc., until ill health overtook him recently and Scorcher became impossible for him to maintain… or even get aboard now, so we are looking for a new team/family to cherish her and use her to her full potential. She’d make a great world cruiser.
